I was on a much needed vacation last week in Ocean City, New Jersey. I spent the week drinking mojitos, laying on the beach, getting massages and pedicures. It was super relaxing, but sadly I did not work out very much. In the beginning of the week I ran a mile with my pup and did a small work out.
I feel bad I did not work out, but I also think that my body needed a break. I had been having knee pain in my right knee for a while, but after resting a full week and getting a massage I no longer have the knee pain.
I got my massage at the Red Door Inn Spa. This spa is super relaxing and has so many amenities, such as showers stocked with Elizabeth Arden products, steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs and all the cucumber water! I made sure to tell my masseuse that I had been running a lot so she could focus on my legs through out the massage. She used Olive Oil Leg Revitalizer on my legs which is $25 on Villa Floriani. I felt an immediate cooling sensation when she applied which was amazing. I think I am going to invest in the cooling product for post runs. I also want to try to invest in more massages especially since it helped with my soreness so much!
Later in the week I got a pedicure, which also included a leg massage. I have heard mixed opinions on whether it is good to get pedicures or not while running because calluses that have been built up can be buffed out during the pedicure. But I also heard that its good to get pedicures so that all your toe nails are evenly cut. So I opted to get the pedicure with all the fixings, but I’m sure if you don’t want your calluses smoothed out you can ask for that to be excluded.
All in all, super relaxing week, but now its time to get back in the groove of running. It is now Week 5 of my Training. Yesterday I ran 2.5 Miles to the Art Museum and ran the Rocky Steps, for Rocky Run Monday of course!
Today was a rest day for me, but I am going to do a two-a-day tomorrow. I will be waking up early to run a 5K in the morning and in the evening I will be doing a Barre class at Barre3 with an old coworker, There may or may not be post work out drinks involved (haha).
Looking forward to getting focused on training again this week!
