Happy Monday! Week 1 is complete its time to for a new start and to perform even better. If you read my Week 1 recap you know that it did not go as planned and there were a lot of excuses made. This week will not be like that.
After a lot of rest days I decided to push myself hard today. It was the hardest training day I have had in a while. I set out to do 5 Miles. My best motivator for this was to run to the Philadelphia Art Museum Steps, aka the Rocky Steps where this happened in cinematic history:
And where this happened in Philadelphia History (GO BIRDS!)
I have been wanting to train here for a while because the steps are perfect to get some interval training in a somewhat flat city. The steps are a 3 Mile run from my house. The run was hard after a weekend of drinking and staying up late. But when I got to the steps I ran up and down 6 times. I felt so good after pushing myself. I pushed myself more and ran another mile and got myself to 4.6 Miles today. I wanted to do 5 miles but I felt like I pushed myself enough to stop at 4.6. I also needed water desperately. In case you did not know Starbucks gives free Venti Ice Waters. Which sounded so good in my head when I passed by a Starbucks so I got one before hopping on the subway home.
Today made me realize that not every run is going to feel easy or great. In fact most of them will be insanely difficult. Duh, that is the point of training. I haven’t pushed myself on my own in a while and it was a great start to the week. I think I am going to do a Rocky Run every Monday!
Below is my schedule for Week 2 of Training, I’m hoping for less excuses this week:
